We all want to know what's going to happen in our lives. Astrology feeds on our insatiable inquisitiveness, and the daily papers oblige. Even television accommodates; we see advertising for psychics. "For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths" (2 Timothy 4:3,4). We have gathered around us "teachers" and “experts” who soothe our itching, curious ears with generics and strange genetics.
But "From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you" (Isaiah 48:6); "Now to him who is able to establish you by my gospel and the proclamation of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings..." (Romans 16:25,26). The astrologers are not to validate and establish us; Christ and His gospel of good news will do that for us. Faith takes the place of curiosity, and peace is established in our borders.
"...Nor to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies. These promote controversies rather than God's work, which is by faith" (1 Timothy 1:4).
"My times are in your hands..." (Psalm 31:15), Father, not the horrorscopes which try to peer into the future. Your vision, not television, will reveal to us only that which we need to know. Anything else is a perishscope!
